For its beryllium copper ageing process, Knackwell received an order for a PNF Inert Atmosphere Furnace. A test was required as a prerequisite of the order to ensure that a uniformity of +/-10°C at 1000°C could be maintained.
Furnace with inert atmosphere PNF A Knackwell engineer was dispatched to the customer's location to conduct a nine-point temperature uniformity test on the current Knackwell furnace. Data was taken while the oven was ramped and soaked at three different temperatures. With temperature consistency between +/- 4.3°C and 6.8°C (2.4°F and 3.8°F), the furnace functioned considerably better than predicted. The furnace is equipped with fine-tunable recirculating air louvres that maintain consistent airflow.
