The goal of a Stress Relief Furnace is to bring a component's temperature down to just below the transition temperature. Internal tensions induced by secondary procedures like welding, machining, or cold forming are eliminated by raising the temperature. The pieces are then cooled at a controlled rate after completing the heat-up and hold cycle.
